EZ Title Pawn - How Credit Bureaus Work

Nationwide, there are 2,000 credit bureaus, which issue 150 million consumer credit reports annually. How they work: A credit bureau starts a file on you when you apply for your first credit card. It records your place of employment, income, and every purchase on credit or on the new credit card. Financial information passes in and out of the bureau.

Lenders, such as backs, supply information on their account holders. When you want credit, the lender draws information from your credit file.
Important: You have a right to see you're creditable for a loan, particularly if you have been denied credit because of its contents. Advice: Contact the credit bureau within 30 days after your credit application has been denied. The bureau must tell you the contents of your file at no cost to you. After 30 days the fee is $3 to $5.
For the location of your credit bureau, ask your bank which one it uses, or check the telephone directory.
